What is the difference between the winter names given to brief cold spells?

There are several winters you might have heard of but what is the difference and when do they typically occur? Not all these occur every year but there are several that can occur. Redbud Winter: Redbud Winter typically occurs in late March and early April

Dogwood Winter: Dogwood Winter typically occurs in mid to late April.

Locust Winter: It's named for the locust trees that bloom in early to mid-May.

Blackberry Winter: Blackberry Winter happens when blackberries are in bloom typically early to mid-May sometimes it can occur in April it just depends on the weather. Some years we have more of these and sometimes much less.
