TRACKING THE TROPICS: Tuesday 2pm update The 2 areas in the Atlantic both have a HIGH chance of development within the next several days. The first one has a 70% chance of development and the 2nd one has a 90% chance of development. The next named storms will be Laura and Marco. Hurricane Genevieve in the Pacific Ocean is now a major category 4 hurricane with 130 mph winds and gusts to 160 mph. There is also a 20% chance of tropical development below the hurricane. The Tropics will most likely remain very busy within the next 2 months especially late August into the beginning and middle of September. Each wave that comes off Africa will need to be monitored closely for tropical development. Sea surface temperatures are very warm and there isn't much wind shear.
