This is a count where you don't want to be in the lead the count for the states with most tornadoes so far in 2021 as of the middle of May. Texas is leading the nation with 79 tornadoes so far, Alabama has had 77, Mississippi has had 66, Louisiana has had 37, Georgia has had 30, Tennessee has had 27 and Florida has had 18. Georgia has had more tornadoes than Kansas and Oklahoma so far. Below is also a look back at some of the significant severe weather events and some of the most active days so far this year.
