The official high temperature in Atlanta on Wednesday June 16th was 99 breaking the old record of 96 set back in 1943. Heat Index values were between 105 and 112 for much of metro Atlanta and North Georgia. This heat wave also prompted the first excessive heat warning in parts of Georgia since 2012. Atlanta hit 106 that year.
