Plenty of rain in the southeast recently but not enough across the west coast and Pacific Northwest.

The southeast has had a very wet summer so far especially parts of Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana and parts of Florida. Parts of Georgia and Alabama has had between 3 and 6" of rain so far in July with isolated amounts over 8". Many areas in metro Atlanta and North and Central Alabama will likely have close to a foot of rainfall by the time July ends for the month as a whole. The southeast has had a trough dominating the weather pattern recently and a big high pressure ridge out west. Seattle and Portland has been very dry recently while Atlanta, Birmingham, Mobile and New Orleans has had plenty of rain. California, Oregon, parts of Washington State, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and parts of Canada are dealing with wildfires and extremely dry weather. British Columbia has had hundreds of fires. Record breaking heat, dry lightning and extremely dry weather is the cause for many of the fires.
