Over a dozen tornadoes touched down during the Monday August 10th Derecho in the midwest.




A Derecho (a long lived wind storm) ripped through the midwest on Monday August 10th causing significant damage in Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, and parts of Indiana. Iowa and Illinois was among the hardest hit states some of the wind gusts were over 100 mph. The winds were equivalent to a cat. 2 hurricane in some cases and also equivalent to an EF-2 Tornado. There were 15 tornadoes that touched down 14 in northern Illinois and 1 in northwest Indiana.
