A significant winter storm will develop Friday off the coast of the Carolinas, and then lift northward while rapidly strengthening. This will likely bring heavy snow along the coast from parts of Virginia through Maine, with blizzard conditions possible for parts of Long Island and New England. Coastal flooding is also possible.
