A Derecho moved through the Midwest Monday August 10th bringing high winds and leaving behind a trail of damage. Winds gusted over 100 mph at times especially in Iowa where winds gusted to 112 mph. In Chicago winds gusted to near hurricane force. The Derecho left over a million people without power. The Derecho traveled over 700 miles lasting over 10 hours. Over a dozen tornadoes touched down in the midwest mostly in Illinois.
