January 2023 severe weather stats so far

ACTIVE MONTH FOR SEVERE WEATHER: Over 150 tornadoes so far this month running well above the January average. The Storm Prediction Center has issued 5 Enhanced risks of severe weather so far this month. There are several reasons why there has been so much severe weather this month. A strong jet, Active storm track, Ample supply of gulf moisture and a lot of the air has come from the Pacific meaning a mild airmass many days. The cold air has been short lived much of this month across the deep south. The Ocean temperatures are quite warm in the Gulf Of Mexico. La Niña also plays a role.
