The growing season is becoming longer and that also has an effect on the allergy season. Winters aren't as cold as they used to be it does not mean we won't have cold snaps in the future they just won't last as long and that means an extended allergy season in the future.
This past week the Atlanta metro area and much of North Georgia had the 4th highest pollen level for February on record. Last Monday started at 80, Tuesday started to hit the high range at 154, Wednesday was 170, Thursday a huge surge started as the count jumped to 682 the highest since April 2020. Friday February 26th the count was 820. Pollen thrives during warm weather. Tree pollen season peaks in March and April especially the 2nd half of March. Numbers will eventually soar into the thousands. Last year in 2020 Atlanta had its second highest pollen count on record at 8918. The highest pollen count ever recorded in Atlanta was 9369 in March of 2012.
