On top of the high snow totals, winds gusted to a maximum 102 mph at the height of the storm. It was responsible for 18 deaths and leaving over 700,000 customers without power.
32. SPRING 2013 OKLAHOMA TORANDO OUTBREAK The spring saw two major tornado outbreaks, both within just days of one another, in the state of Oklahoma. While the strongest tornado of this outbreak was only rated an EF3, it still did massive amounts of damage to the city of El Reno, Oklahoma. The twister was on the ground for 40 minutes, and at its peak had maximum sustained winds measured by a mobile Doppler radar site of 302 mph. The storm also grew to an astounding 2.6 miles wide, breaking records for the widest tornado ever recorded in U.S. history. The storm claimed the lives of 8 people, injuring over 150 others. The path led to damage estimates of $35 to 40 million.
33. MIDWEST SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK FALL 2013 a severe weather outbreak for the year occurred right before Thanksgiving in the midwest. In all, 73 tornadoes were confirmed by National Weather Service offices across the states of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. The strongest was an EF4 storm that ravaged the town of Peoria, Illinois. The system was so powerful, it forced the Storm Prediction Center to issue a "High Risk" for severe weather, a rarity in the spring months, and unheard of in the fall months.
34. 2015 South Carolina saw historic flooding in the month of October. Rainfall drenched the state for several days, setting rainfall records during the deluge. It was the states wettest October on record, with a new statewide 24-hour record being set. Widespread Flash Flooding occurred, leading to countless water rescues and dam breaches across the state, including in Columbia. Up to 160,000 homes sustained damage from the floods.
35. RECORD COLD IN ALASKA DECEMBER 2019
36.MASSIVE SNOWS IN THE WINTER OF 2015/2016 IN THE NORTHEAST US
New York City typically averages 27.5 inches of snow in one winter season. They received that total in just two days from this storm alone. It helped New York City set their heaviest snowstorm on record, dating back to 1869. Other places like Allentown and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania set snowfall totals above 30 inches. Over 21 million people across the eastern United States saw 20 inches of snow or more. Over 13,000 flights were cancelled and eleven states, including the District of Columbia, declared a state of emergency.
37. FEBRUARY 2016 SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK
61 confirmed tornadoes touched down, including three separate EF3 tornadoes that spun up across Louisiana, Florida and Virginia. This severe weather outbreak helped spawn the first deadly February tornado on record for the state of Virginia, while it also helped bring the first F/EF2 or strong tornado on record to the state of Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, severe thunderstorm warnings were issued as far north as Maine with this storm.
The Storm Prediction Center issued a severe thunderstorm watch as far north as Massachusetts and southern Vermont. The last time this happened so early in the year for the northeast was back in 1997.

Flash Flooding impacted the state of West Virginia as slow-moving thunderstorms passed through the state killing nearly two dozen people and bringing widespread destruction and water inundation to city infrastructure.
39. 2019 RECORD HEAT AND WILDFIRES IN AUSTRALIA
40. 10 feet of snow piled up in just over a week across the Sierra Nevada region in early January 2017 This snow pack, mixed with heavy rainfall in area rivers and streams, led to flooding throughout the months to come. Rising waters caused damage to nearby structures and debris flow across river basins.
41. In April 2017 Major storm systems sweeping across the Ozarks brought flash flooding to Arkansas, Missouri, and Illinois.
42. BIG NOR'EASTERS IN 2018
In March four nor'easters brought strong winds, pounding rain and historic snows to the eastern seaboard of the United States. The storms which hit on March 2nd, 7th, 13th, and 21st brought major impacts. Snowfall totals by the end of the month were well over 3 feet in some spots across the northeast while coastal locations dealt with several days of coastal flooding and erosion throughout the month. Incredibly, a fifth nor'easter formed late in March but was too far offshore to bring any ill effect to the eastern seaboard.
43. HURRICANE MATTHEW 2016
Matthew brought gusts nearing 100 mph to the coastal Carolinas in October 2016. It also dropped as much as 16.9 inches of rain in South Carolina, and 18.95 in North Carolina. It came barely a year after historic flooding dropped more than 20 inches on some spots in the Carolinas during October 2015, causing disastrous flooding. Rivers, particularly in North Carolina, crested at historic levels.
