2020 Severe weather recap

In 2020 there were 344 severe thunderstorm warnings issued by the National Weather Service in Atlanta/Peachtree City. Birmingham issued 206 severe thunderstorm warnings and Huntsville issued 113. Atlanta/Peachtree City issued 60 Tornado warnings and Birmingham issued 40. Huntsville issued 40. A couple of reminders for our future severe weather events especially in the Spring but really anytime of the year take all risks seriously regardless if it is Marginal, Slight, Enhanced, Moderate or high. It does not always take an enhanced risk or moderate risk for the weather to be dangerous and potentially life threatening. Marginal risk days can sometimes be as active as an enhanced risk day. Make sure you are getting updated weather information check the time and date on all weather posts. Sometimes Facebook will show old weather information in your news feed. Just because it is winter time does not mean severe weather can't occur we have had tornado outbreaks and severe weather outbreaks in January and February. Our peak severe weather months are March and April. As always I'll be here to keep everyone informed during important weather events especially during times of severe weather.
