2020 one of the most active years for severe weather in nearly a decade. Severe wx by the numbers.

We all know there has been no shortage of severe weather in 2020 especially when the Easter severe weather/tornado outbreak occured on Sunday April 12th and lingered into Monday morning April 13th during that event I covered severe weather until about 4am. Also the March Tennessee tornadoes. An EF-4 tornado hit Cookeville Tennessee killing 19 in early March. There has been over 580 tornado reports nation wide and over 440 of them have been confirmed. April has had over 330 tornado reports nation wide. There have been 28 tornadoes in Georgia just in the month of April. The average is 5. The top 5 states for tornado reports thus far as of the end of April: 1. Mississippi: 98

2. Alabama: 67

3. Georgia: 65

4. Texas: 64

5. Louisiana: 39

There has been 73 tornado deaths in the US through the end of April. Back in 2011 there were 553 tornado deaths but since then every year the tornado death count has been under 70 this year it has risen above 70. The annual average between in the US is 69. There have been 8 tornado deaths in Georgia, 28 in Tennessee, 9 in South Carolina, 13 in Mississippi, 4 in Louisiana, 4 in Texas, and 2 in Oklahoma. (Data from the Storm Prediction Center).
