An Invest is an area of interest designated by the National Hurricane Center. Once the NHC declares an area as an invest it allows Meteorologists to start to keep an eye on the area being monitored. The term invest is often followed by the numbers 90 through 99 and the letter "L" for systems in the Gulf and Atlantic and E for the Pacific for the eastern Pacific Ocean areas.
