BEYOND THE FORECAST: All about Thundersnow!

Thundersnow can occur during powerful winter storms. If the snowfall is intense and often 2 to 4" per hour then Thundersnow is possible. Thundersnow most often occurs in the upper midwest, the northern plains, the rockies and the interior northeast. Thundersnow can occur anywhere when snow is intense. Thundersnow has occured as far south as Georgia and Alabama especially during the Blizzard of 1993.
