Beyond The Forecast: What determines when Easter is each year & a look back at past Easter weather.

Easter 2021 was much better than Easter 2020 when we had the tornado outbreak. Easter 2020 brought severe weather to parts of Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana and South Carolina. April 12th-13th 2020 there was widespread severe weather and over 100 tornadoes across the deep south. If you are like me you probably have wondered what determines when Easter is each year. Easter can range from the end of March to the end of April. Easters date depends on the full moon. Easter is always on the first Sunday following the first Spring full moon. This year the first Spring full moon was March 28th. Easter in 2022 will be on Sunday April 17th because the first Spring full moon is April 16th in 2022. In 2023 Easter will be on April 9th. The first Spring full moon will be on April 6th in 2023. Easter weather varies in Georgia back in 2019 temperatures were in the 70's (72 was the high temperature) similar to 2021 (73 was the high temperature). Easter 2018 the high temperature was 77. Easter 2015 the high temperature was 68. Easter 2010 the high temperature was 83. Easter 2006 had a high temperature of 82. Easter 2007 was fairly cold for Spring standards with a high temperature of only 54 and a morning low temperature of 30.
